About AP Computer Science

AP Computer Science courses are more than just a route to college credits; they’re a pivotal foundation for anyone serious about computer science. Earning a high score in these AP exams is held in high esteem by many higher education institutions, and can pave the way for further studies or a rewarding career in technology.

AP Computer Science A

This course focuses on the fundamentals of computer science, with a particular emphasis on hands-on coding skills. Centered around Java, a language extensively used in the tech sector, the course covers key topics like object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms. Students will gain practical experience in coding, troubleshooting, and documenting their projects. The course equips students with a deep understanding of programming and sets them up for advanced studies in the field.

AP Computer Science Principles

Unlike its counterpart, AP Computer Science Principles takes a more holistic view of the field. This course covers an array of topics, including but not limited to computational thinking, data evaluation, and the societal ramifications of computing. With a language-neutral structure, the course allows students to engage with the essential principles of computer science without being confined to a single programming language. It explores topics such as internet functionality, data security, and the ethical and global implications of computing.

Each course offers a unique but complementary perspective, equipping students for a diverse range of roles within the computer science sphere. Whether your ambition lies in software development or in understanding the broader impacts of computing, these AP courses lay the groundwork for excellence.

Description

In 2020, the pass rates for Computer Science A and Principles were 70.4% and 71.6%, respectively. Although these percentages seem promising, it’s worth noting that the exam is among the more rigorous AP tests. Few students attain the coveted score of 5, with only 25.6% in Computer Science A and 10.9% in Principles doing so.

Tackling the intricacies of AP Computer Science A and Principles can be intimidating, but with expert guidance, success is within reach. Whether you’re mastering Java in Computer Science A or grasping core computing concepts in Principles, our specialized courses have you covered. Developed in collaboration with Coding Club, our curriculum is designed to do more than just help you pass; it aims to help you excel, paving the way for further studies and rewarding tech careers.

Equip yourself with the vital skills to ace the AP Computer Science A exam, or build an exceptional portfolio for the AP Computer Science Principles exam.
